Governor's Bill to Eliminate Educators' Due Process Up for Hearing
Members urged to speak up
Governor Sandoval’s bill, AB 555, is designed to eliminate probationary status for educators, places every educator on a one-year contract, changes evaluation forms to pass/fail, and eliminates collective bargaining.
AB 555 is being heard this Saturday, April 16th at 9:00 a.m. in Carson City and will be teleconferenced to the Grant Sawyer Building in Las Vegas, Room 4401 (555 East Washington Avenue, Las Vegas 89101).
We understand a lot of you will be crossing paths on Spring Break but we need folks to testify. We also need you to spread the word far and wide. We need as many people as possible testifying against this bill that proposes to do away with our rights, as well as collective bargaining.
Please plan to attend and testify against the bill. Tell lawmakers how this bill is a direct attack on Nevada's educators to avoid funding Nevada's schools. We urge you to attend this Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
If you cannot attend this meeting, please send ALL legislators on the Ways and Means Committee an e-mail letting them know you oppose AB 555.
